GUARDIANS OF BELIEF AND THE NUNS OF MYANMAR (Burma, 2006)

'Guardians of belief' is a story about Buddhism in Myanmar asking why this country has so many nuns. Published in Columbus Magazine, Marie Claire.

Photos and essay are available in English via The Cover Story.

When I was working on the book 'Buddhist temple life in Laos', the neighbouring country Myanmar slipped into my mind. I had read a lot about the Buddhist nuns of Asia, but I couldn't understand why Laos had hardly any nuns while Myanmar had so many. I wished to find out.
